What is Vantil?

The music workspace beyond the audio.

Your DAW gets your sound ready. Vantil gets you release-ready.

Why I built Vantil

In 2020, I made a song with a friend.

We didn't write down our agreement.

When the song took off, we spent months disputing it, with lawyers involved.

We no longer make music together.

I'm Femi Popoola. I've been making music since I was nine, my songs have over 86 million streams, and I'm a pharmacist, so process is how I think. I made my album HOME in Vantil.

A song is more than the audio

A song is the audio plus the work beyond it.

The first version I make alone and the one you hear on Spotify aren't the same file, but they're the same song.

My DAW connects instruments to the song. Nothing connected people to the song.

Why the gap exists

Other tools make something else the main event: publishing, admin, analytics.

I believe the song is the most important thing about the song.

They leave the work until after the fact, which is what turns it into admin.

After the song is done
it feels like admin.
While the song is being made
it's making the song.

Nobody opens Ableton to organize files, yet you're doing it the whole time, because it happens as the song does.

What Vantil does

  1. Communicate. Share files and messages tied to a song (stems, references, the version a collaborator should hear) instead of sending them through separate apps.

  2. Confirm. Log what was agreed and paid. The recipient acknowledges it, and the record is kept with the song. Payment amounts are visible only to the people involved.

  3. Capture. Each song keeps a record of its files, payments, splits, decisions, and version history.

Ableton keeps an .asd file next to each sample, holding what it knows about that audio. Vantil is that for the whole life of the song.

Keep files, people, payments, splits, conversations, and decisions with the song, so when the music is ready, the rest is too.

How it should feel

Opening Ableton for the first time: overwhelming, then intuitive, then hard, and satisfying when it clicks. That's the bar for Vantil: simple, seamless and satisfying.

What Vantil is not

Not a DAW. A DAW produces the audio. Vantil handles the work around it.

Not file storage. Files stay in your Google Drive or Dropbox. Vantil references them and does not store your audio.

Not a payment processor. Payments happen through the services you already use. Vantil records them and does not move money.

Not a distributor or rights-administration tool. Vantil keeps the work with the song as you make it and prepare for release. It does not distribute music or administer rights or royalties.

Visibility

Visibility is set per item. Payment amounts are private to the people involved. A file or message can go to specific people or to everyone on the song. Private items are marked.

Pricing

Vantil offers a free plan and paid subscription plans. Pricing scales with the number of active songs: the songs you own that aren’t archived.
